Delivering a $110 million upgrade at Exit 49

Work is underway on the upgrade to the M1’s Exit 49 at Pimpama.

I have been campaigning long and hard for improvements to the motorway since I was first elected as the Member for Forde, and was successful in securing over $55 million dollars from the previous Federal Government to finance half the cost of the Exit 49 work.

The $110.768 million project is jointly funded with the Queensland State Government and will deliver significant improvements in safety, and traffic flow efficiency, to our rapidly growing Northern Gold Coast community.

The improvements include:

– Removing existing roundabouts and replacing them with signalised intersections to allow traffic to flow more efficiently and safely.

– Moving the existing on and off ramps away from the main interchange intersections to reduce conflict points and traffic queuing. Diverting some traffic away from the interchange.

– Adding an additional bridge across the M1 for increased capacity of traffic movement.

– Adding pedestrian and cyclist connectivity across the M1.

– Landscaping with native plants to enhance the natural beauty of the residential area.

– Decreasing the downhill slope away from the interchange along Rifle Range Road to reduce issues with stopping.

I am committed to delivering on upgrades to exits along the M1 to improve safety and travel times for commuters in our Northern Gold Coast community.
